ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – April 6, 2018 – The highly anticipated Tennessee Avenue Renaissance Project continues with the opening of a concept that will not just be something new for Atlantic City, but for the state of New Jersey.
MADE Atlantic City Chocolate Bar will open April 27, providing an awesomely sweet spot on Tennessee Avenue that will appeal to everyone who loves chocolate, cocktails and wine. And who doesn’t?
The bean-to-bar chocolate shop concept is the creation of two talented chefs who also happen to be married. Deborah Pellegrino, former executive pastry chef for all three Caesars Entertainment properties in Atlantic City, and Mark Pellegrino, an Atlantic City veteran who has worked in restaurants including Carmine’s and Temple Bar, will oversee the entire operation, making sure Atlantic City’s – and Jersey’s – first chocolate experience will not only satisfy chocolate cravers but draw tourism to the street and city.
MADE will feature cocoa beans from various origins that will change with chocolate bar development. MADE will debut with in-house beans of origin from Ghana,Ecuador, Madagascar and the Dominican Republic that will be roasted and refined into chocolate bars right inside the Tennessee Avenue shop. That very chocolate will also be used for house-MADE chocolate desserts for you to pair with wine and cocktails. And here’s the best part: chocolate lovers can watch the process happen right in front of them.

If Pellegrino’s chocolate bars aren’t enough to entice you, there is a rustic feel in the shop of all original terracotta, brick and concrete finishes that overlook the glass-enclosed, immaculately white production area. The experience will also feature hand-crafted MADE chocolate cocktails as well as other unique chocolate experience sand wine to pair with the handmade chocolate. MADE will open with four hand-crafted chocolate-infused cocktails along with red or white wine on tap, coffee beer and more, making it the perfect place for a couples retreat or bachelorette party.
“The idea is that our guests will be able to watch us make chocolate from beans right in front of them while sipping libations at the bar and learning all about what they are tasting,” says Deb Pellegrino, who has appeared on the Food Network. “It’s a fun, yet relaxing environment with great chocolate. I’ll also create unique chocolate desserts to enjoy at the shop while you watch them being MADE.”
MADE – which are the first two letters of Mark and the first two letters of Deb – has even more meaning: “Everything will be made in Atlantic City, made with love, made by us in our own place...finally!,” says Pellegrino, who will also wholesale the same chocolate to other retailers and restaurants. “We are really excited and chose to create this shop because we have roots in .A.C. and want to be part of revitalizing the city again.”

“We want you to have a really great experience of enjoying chocolate and wine when you come to MADE,” adds Mark Pellegrino. “It’s all about the chocolate and flavors.”
MADE’s hours will be Friday 4 to 9 p.m.
Saturday 1 to 9 p.m.
Sunday Noon to 8 p.m.
Monday Noon to 8 p.m.
