The Ben Franklin Bridge, connecting Philadelphia, PA to Camden, NJ, will be lit yellow representing Sunshine Foundation the following evenings:
July 5 through July 12, 2018 – Yellow to illuminate Sunshine Foundation’s See the Sunshine in Every Child Campaign, in an effort to focus public attention on the Foundation’s mission to serve
children with severe chronic illness, serious illness and special needs. Sunshine Foundation encourages all to participate by helping spread sunshine – Simply, take a photo of the bridge lit
yellow and share to social media by tagging Sunshine Foundation:;

In addition to the lighting of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, the Delaware River Port Authority held Employee Charity Drives to help local nonprofits, including Sunshine Foundation, raise awareness and funds to support their missions.

Sunshine Foundation answers dreams for chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children ages three to eighteen whose families are unable to fulfill the dream request due to the financial strain the child’s illness may cause.

Sunshine Foundation was founded by Philadelphia police officer, Bill Sample, who was assigned to a local children’s hospital. While on protective duty, he encountered critically ill children and saw firsthand how these children’s families were burdened not only by mounting medical bills, but also by the frustration of not being able to provide their child’s special dream.

Sunshine Foundation is the original wish granting organization in the United States, and has answered the dreams of more than 40,000 children since 1976. To learn more about the Sunshine Foundation and how to help make more dreams to come true, visit the website,, or contact
